Opry Mills is known as a place to shop. However, that quickly is changing as the former outlet mall continues to transform itself into an entertainment destination.
The Escape Game is the newest addition to Opry Mills. Open now with two rooms, TEG offers groups of 2-8 people the opportunity to escape from puzzle filled rooms. The "Gold Rush" is where an old prospector stashed his gold. He made too many bets with the wrong crowd and now he is missing. You've been tipped off to where he hid his gold, but the mob has too, and you have only a one hour head start. The second room is "Special Ops," where you have been assigned to investigate the Ansar Market. A routine check turns up something big and you have no time to call for backup while the fate of the world rests on your actions.
Open now for a year and a half is the musical edition of the world's most famous wax museum. Ever since 1835 when Marie Tussaud opened her museum on London's Baker Street, Madame Tussauds (they dropped the apostrophe years ago) has wowed visitors with meticulously lifelike versions of famous people. Naturally, country music takes center stage at the Nashville location, but Ozzy, Elvis, and the Fab Four are there too. Be sure not to miss Darius Rucker's talking wax figure that is so realistic it reportedly creeped out Darius himself.
Adjacent to Opry Mills is the Grand Ole Opry. Although it doesn't host musical events during November and December while it runs Christmas shows, the Backstage Tour is still available. Get an inside look at "country's most famous stage," and of course, see the "Circle" made from the old stage at the Ryman.
